New signalised junction on the A49 ‘Holmer Road’

An update from Montel Engineering and Bloor Homes:

Re: Construction works for the new signalised junction, Holmer Road Hereford

Further to our previous correspondence and our advance warning signs, I am writing to inform you of the construction works due to be commencing shortly on Holmer Road, Hereford.

Montel Civil Engineering Ltd have been appointed by Bloor Homes and Highways England to undertake the construction of a new signalized junction.

The construction works are due to commence on 17th May 2021, we will be constructing a new junction on the A49 at Moreton on Lugg. The work is required pursuant to Bloor Homes planning permission at “Hereford Point” and is part of a scheme to provide connectivity between Roman Road and the A49. The scheme when complete will provide relief for the existing Starting Gate Roundabout.

The work will also include various gully repairs which will see the replacement of gully covers and frames. We will also be replacing the road markings and installing a ghost lane Southbound on the A49 providing a safe right turn. The completed work will provide a smoother and safer network to all road users. Work will also extend the life of the road whilst reducing the need for future maintenance.

Due to the nature of the works it is a requirement to have Traffic Management in situ 24hours per day and 7 days per week. This will be reviewed during the works and as soon as it is practicable and safe to do so, it will be removed. The A49 will remain open in both directions during the works with minimal delays expected to travel times.
