What is the core strategy?
In September 2014, Herefordshire Council submitted the Local Plan Core Strategy (which provides strategic planning for the county’s future development needs up to 2031) to the Secretary of State for examination.
The next stage of the process is the Examination hearings which are open to the public and are scheduled for 10-12, 17-19 and 24-25 February 2015 at Hedley Lodge, Belmont Abbey, Ruckhall Lane, Hereford HR2 9RZ.
As your ward councillor, I have registered to attend and speak at the hearings along with a representative from Holmer Parish Council. At the Parish Council meeting on Monday, 9th February 2015 we w discussed our representations.
If you responded personally to the Council’s consultation, you should have received notification of the above Examination hearings. An independent programme officer, Rosalind Fallon, has been appointed who works under the direction of the Inspector, Christine Thorby.
If you require any further information, please contact Rosalind on firstname.lastname@example.org, Tel. 07792 881833.

What does this all mean for Holmer Parish?
It means, in the local plan, the council are proposing the Northern urban expansion of Holmer West which includes around 500 new homes incorporating 35 per cent affordable homes, 350 space park and ride scheme and a Northern Relief Road.
Many of you have raised your concerns with the Parish Council and myself through the various consultation processes and have sent in their own representations. I am informed that the Inspector will give equal weight to the views put forward at the hearings and those submitted in writing.
