Crimes and incidents of interest from 19th August to 30th September 2016

Stretton Sugwas
On 31st August the victim parked their vehicle in a lay-by near to the nature reserve. Between the times of 09:00 and 10:30am the vehicle was scratched along the rear passenger door with unknown object.

On 30th September at approx 23:30, occupants were disturbed by torch light and voices which were heard from their back garden. Victim discovered the padlocks of 2 sheds had been forcibly opened and a toolbox stolen from within.

Brinsop
Between the 1st and 23rd Aug a theft has occurred of a large quantity of kitchen equipment. The items were stored in a rural location within outbuildings. Locks and gates have been removed and a door damaged in the process.

Upper Dormington
Between the 22nd and 23rd Aug. Theft of Ifor Williams trailer. During material times, unknown offender(s) have forced a locked gate off the hinges which lead to a large field where the trailer was stored.

Bartestree
Between 21:00 on 21st Aug and 08:20 on 22nd Aug. Victim parked their black Supermoto motorcycle FC03NPZ on the residential car park. Between the material times, persons unknown cut the chain lock which was securing the vehicle. Offenders then took the vehicle by means unknown.

Bartestree
Between 09:00 and 12:10 on 10th Sept, burglary took place whilst occupants were away from property. Unknown person(s) have entered the property via forcing open a window. Once inside, an untidy search has taken place and various antiques and collectables have been removed from cabinets. A large quantity of silverware, china and some electrical items have been stolen. Damage caused to a gatepost to the rear of the property would indicate that the vehicle used has parked at the back of the property and reversed up to the gate.

Withington
Between 12:50 and 13:05 theft of quad bike. The victim noted that two males had reversed their blue/green transit van on the field approx 30 minutes before the theft took place. Honda Quad bike VX64NGN.

Preston Wynne
Between the 12th and 13th September victims vehicle was parked on driveway in rural location. Offender/s have approached the vehicle where they have removed and taken 1 complete front headlight panel from the front of the vehicle. Access has been made within the vehicle by unknown means without causing any visible damage where they have removed and taken the rear parcel shelf from inside the vehicle.

Canon Pyon
21st September, theft of Silver Ford Ranger Pickup stolen between 12:00 and 13:06 from rural farm yard.

Moreton-on-Lugg
17th September. Report received at 20:20 to say an unknown group of 3 males and 2 females aged between 13 -17 were in the area of Cedar Close being verbally abusive, throwing stones and pieces of wood. Police attended and carried out patrols of Cedar Close and nearby areas. No youths found and no further reports received.

29th September. 2 males reported for riding off-road motorbikes without helmets. The vehicles were seized at the scene. As stated in previous newsletters, off-road vehicles are only designed to be used on private land with the landowners permission (officer dealing will likely request name and contact details of landowner if verbally told permission has been granted) Off-road vehicles can not be used on the highway as they hold no tax, insurance or MOT. As demonstrated on this occasion – vehicles will be seized by police and may even be destroyed.

Mordiford
29th September. VW Caddy van RJ62 BJK stolen. Vehicle was left unattended with keys in ignition whilst owner was working inside nearby property. Vehicle was sighted in surrounding villages with driver concealing their face. Ongoing police enquiries.

A note from Bishopstone Parish Council – Reported theft of galvanised gate on the junction with the C1099.Wye Valley Walk between Kenchester and Stretton Sugwas.

Police have seen a recent increase of reports across Herefordshire from residents who have been
offered items for sale at the door. Items include chainsaws and generators, often being sold well above the recommended retail price or of poor quality. Anyone who has been approached with these or similar items should avoid purchasing as it could negate your consumer rights if faulty or you’re unhappy with the item.
